My wife and I were hoping for some instructions, and a nice meal. Boy how we were surprised! The Chef was fantastic! He had a wonderful personality, well versed in cooking Paella, served us unlimited Sangria, and made the best Paella we’ve ever had! I highly recommend this superb experience!

Manuel was fun and a great teacher. The paella we made was delicious! The sangria was lovely and the other guests were great to hang out with.
Do it!

Fantastic experience, the Chef was clearly an expert, great to speak with and learn from, and flexible for people with allergies. Would absolutely recommend!
Perfect Barcelona evening!

A wonderful evening learning about seafood paella and how to cook it best! The tapas and sangria were the perfect start to the meal!
One of our top experiences

It was like having dinner at a close friends house. There were drinks, and the food & people were amazing! And the chef...great.
Great part of the Barcelona experience

Wonderful experience - it's my first time in Barcelona trying to finding something to do and found this on TripAdvisor (want to also note that this is my first cooking class experience). I love cooking and paella really speaks to Spanish culture. There was supposed to be 6 people plus the chef (we got Francesco - supremely great person), but one person didn't show up - at any rate, it's a small group so it feels quite nice and intimate. We started by getting fresh seafood at the market (St. Joseph La Bouqueria) for the paella (squid, prawns, clams, and mussels - the traditional building blocks of seafood paella), spices (turmeric, black pepper, and saffron), and bread for the tapas.

Then we headed over to the cooking school, where it looked more like a small restaurant with a kitchen. We got there and started with some sangria and then went into the kitchen to cook. Francesco was super informative with how each step works, the flexibility of ingredients, the history of paella, etc. - I learned a great deal. Then once we got to the point where everything is in place and we're just waiting for the paella to finish cooking (the seafood broth needs to cook away and cook the rice), we had some tapas and Francesco showed us how to make Sangria.

All in all, super fun, super informative, super delicious - highly recommended :)
Paella and Sangria, yes please!

Was a great evening. There were about 14 of us which made for a big group but it was “the more the merrier”. Francesco was our chef and his helper kept the sangria glasses full as we were taught the traditional art of paella. With history stories to its origin and interactive cooking everyone was left with a smile on their face and great seafood paella in their belly. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting this experience.
Interactive and fun cooking class.

Great experience! Loved all the history and tidbits shared by chef. Enjoyed the interactive cooking, learning new prep and cooking techniques with delicious recipes for sangria, paella. Fun!
Authentic, wonderful cooking lesson

Chef Phillip started our cooking experience by taking our small class of 6 people to La Boqueria Market to purchase the seafood we would use later. We then followed him to his beautiful test kitchen to watch him prepare paella.
Making Paella

Our chef, Francesco was very knowledgeable re: spices, how to prepare all the seafood we used in creating our paella. Fun too.
Highlight of our trip to Barcelona

This cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip to Barcelona. Francesco taught helpful skills (better than most other cooking classes I’ve taken.) The paella was delicious and learning how to make Sangria was an added bonus. I would highly recommend!
Paella was good

I would think of this as more of an experience and not a class. I enjoyed the paella but did not learn much. It was fun to watch the chef prepare the paella though.
Not exactly as described
Kerry_D, 03-01-2023
This is not as interactive as you might think. You're not actually cooking anything yourself or even helping. We also didn't make tapas or sangria.

However, the market visit night was cool and the chef made it fun and engaging.
Paella in Barcelona cooking class.

If u have never experienced paella this tour is ok to learn the basics or preparing it. If u have traveled around Spain, then it is average at best. This dish lacked some key ingredients like saffron, vegetables, chicken and Chorizo. Only had 3 seafood items.
Less interactive than I anticipated.
KathyL_K, 28-09-2022
Was disappointed with this experience. Tour said we would “make” traditional tapas, which we did not, also were supposed to learn how to make Sangria, which both were already made when we arrived. All we did was storm some veggies at the beginning. Paella was good, so that’s why I gave it 3 stars.
Paella tapas interactive..not really..but good paella

Small group..got to chat with others..described as interactive tapas..paella sangria experience...however no making of tapas..2 meats provided..chef made sangria and paella..we assumed we would be cooking/prepping ..being involved..etc..this didn't happen ..we were viewers..so not as described really...but enjoyable evening all the same..maybe a more upfront description needed?
